Club President's Message

A monthly message from the current club president:

April 2019

 A Note from Dee:

Hi to all:

I’ve always heard that adapting to change keeps our brains flexible.  If that’s true, our brains are getting a workout!  As a club, we are adapting to several changes this year and while change can be unsettling, it’s also an opportunity to move forward in new directions.  From forging ahead with a new fundraising activity, our Nittany Charity Classic Golf Tournament, to finding a new meeting venue, we are all moving forward, grateful for the opportunities presented.

We had a fun evening with the Venture Club but alas, did not reclaim the title.  We rallied from way behind to tie and then lost the last couple of Jeopardy questions.  Who knew Texas has the highest number of tornedoes each year??  It was an evening of fun and fellowship and we’ll just try harder next year!  The good news is that we raised $500 to help Mid-State Literacy Council and we’ll have a team in their Community Spelling Bee.  I hope many of us can attend the April 10th event to cheer on our ‘spellers’.

Our Spring is full of fun activities so please join in.  Let’s all plan to have a meal at Harrison’s during our fundraising week and come out and enjoy getting your inner artist awakened at the Cheers to Art Sip & Paint night – both fun and good for our fundraising efforts.

Let’s look forward to the changes coming, working together to keep the club moving ahead.  As stated in the recent article in State College Magazine about SICC – we are ‘Woman Power’ and we make good things happen in our community.  We’ll celebrate just that when we have our awards night in May.

I’ll share a lovely quote I came across:

“The art of life lies in the constant readjustment to our surroundings.”   Kakuzo Okakura

I hope your Spring brings a fresh start and peaceful joy to your life.

All the best,

Dee
